The Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment is responsible for designing the maps for New York's state legislative and congressional districts. The Task Force is made up of six members, including four legislators and two non-legislators. The Temporary President of the Senate and the Assembly speaker each appoint one legislator and one non-legislator. Also, the Minority Leaders of the Assembly and the Senate each appoint one legislator.
